| During the winter season, you will have to fly to Athens and then change flight. SAS, British Airways, Lufthansa and other major airlines usually have a daily service.
You need to book a conneting flight from Athens to Chania at either Olympic Airways or Agerian. In the low season
this can cost from EUR 50 and up depending on how early you book.
Naturally, the trip are faster when flying, but if you have time enough and enjoy sailing try a ferry from Athens to Chania/Rethymnon, it may be a cheaper way to get to the island.
The overnight ferry takes approx. 8 hours to Souda/Chania and the speedy ferry lasts about 4,5 hours to Rethymnon.
